Across the UK, people will enjoy an extra two days off work following Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
With Christmas Day falling on a Saturday and Boxing Day on a Sunday, two 'substitute' days have been added to the calendar.
Today (Monday, December 27) and tomorrow (Tuesday, December 28) will be bank holidays.

If a bank holiday is on a weekend, a ‘substitute’ weekday becomes a bank holiday, normally the following Monday.
The same scenario will happen on New Year's Day.
January 1 falls on a Saturday, so Monday, January 3 will be added as a bank holiday.
However, bank or public holidays do not have to be given as paid leave.
An employer can choose to include bank holidays as part of a worker’s statutory annual leave.
