Why is Ryan Moore not riding at Qipco Champions Day at Ascot?

Ryan Moore is a notable name missing from the jockeys riding at Ascot's Qipco Champions Day on Saturday.

The Ballydoyle jockey is instead heading to Australia to partner Ten Sovereigns in the richest turf race in the world - The Everest.

The three-year-old, who won the July Cup in very impressive fashion during the summer, is a general 12/1 shot for the Randwick contest and Moore believes that price underestimates Aidan O'Brien's runner.

Moore wrote in his Betfair blog: "I see that Ten Sovereigns is available at a double-figure price for the Everest, and that underestimates his form chance.

"Clearly, his draw in 11 is no positive but equally important here is how you break. And if he gets away sharply and gets a decent early pitch, then he has better form claims than his price suggests.

"He obviously didn't do it over 5f in the Nunthorpe last time but his clear-cut defeat of Advertise and Fairyland - and the filly won a Group 1 afterwards, remember - over this trip in the July Cup means he shouldn't be underestimated by anyone, for all this is a very deep race, as you would expect for such a massive prize. That was a top-class effort.

"It's a clearly a very tough ask for him here - and it's a very good quality race this year - with the travel and taking on seasoned Australian sprinters in their own back yard, and in a different style of racing, too.

"But this is only his eighth start remember, and I think there is further improvement in him."
