Why is Piers Morgan not on Good Morning Britain? Host missing in action and he's not the only one

It will be a very different Good Morning Britain this week as Piers Morgan is missing in action.

Always outspoken, Piers has been particularly good at sparking controversy during lockdown thanks to his no nonsense, full throttle approach to interviewing MPs and then raging when Government officials refuse to appear on the show.

Some of Piers' conduct in recent weeks has led to a pile of Ofcom complaints from angry viewers, with some so incensed by his behaviour that they signed a petition to get him sacked from GMB.

And, while he hasn't been axed, Piers won't be on screen at all this week. There is nothing suspicious about his absence, he is just taking a break for what would have been half term week and it was the man himself who confirmed the news on GMB last week when he told viewers at home it it had been a "long old haul" reporting daily on everything's that happened as a result of coronavirus.

He added: ""I can't occasionally go to restaurants or go on planes... and we can actually come to work and we've probably been working much harder than we ever had. I haven't noticed much of a change."

Piers was last missing from GMB after he displayed symptoms of coronavirus and, although he tested negative, he remained off the show for a number of days.

He isn't the only one missing this week as Susanna Reid, who herself self-isolated earlier on in lockdown and ever present health expert Doctor Hilary Jones are also taking a break.
