Dancing on Ice returns for a new series on Sunday night but there’s one person who won’t be there - John Barrowman.
Star of stage and screen John had been on the panel for a number of years, becoming famous for his “fabulous” critique to contestants.
But as Dancing on Ice 2022 launches on ITV on Sunday night, John won’t be on the panel, with his space being taken by former Strictly Come Dancing champion pro and fan favourite Oti Mabuse.
Given John’s popularity with many viewers, his absence will come as a shock to the millions who tune into the first episode of the new series.
Why is John Barrowman not on Dancing on Ice?
While neither John or ITV have gone public with a reason on why he’s no longer on the programme, it was reported by The Sun last year that it’s down to allegations about the ex Doctor Who star “being inappropriate” behind the scenes on the BBC show.
It was alleged that Barrowman, who was a contestant of Dancing on Ice back in 2006, had “flashed” colleagues on set.
In response to the claims, Barrowman said his behaviour was “only ever intended in good humour to entertain colleagues on set and backstage.”
Confirming his departure from the Dancing on Ice panel last year, an ITV spokesperson said: “We thank John Barrowman for two brilliant years on the Dancing on Ice panel and are pleased to be working with him again as host of the forthcoming All Star Musicals specials”.
