Why is Jack Whitehall presenting The Graham Norton Show?

Jack Whitehall is presenting The Graham Norton Show this week as the Irish host misses his first show in 20 years.

Graham Norton's BBC talkshow is a staple of Friday night TV, but this week, May 17,  comedian Whitehall takes over quizzing guests, Luke Evans, Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones and singer Paloma Faith.

So, where is Graham?

Norton is in Tel Aviv to prepare for the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final which is on Saturday 18th May.

2019 is the comedian and presenter's 10th year fronting the Eurovision final for the BBC, since he took over from Terry Wogan.

The Eurovision Song Contest Final is on BBC One, from 8pm, Saturday.

He said of his stand in: "I’m thrilled to know that I am leaving the show in Jack’s capable hands. He is bound to do an amazing job. I should warn him not to get too comfortable in my chair though, because like a slightly fey terminator, I’ll be back!!"

Who is Jack Whitehall?

Extremely popular comedian and actor, Jack Whitehall has been a regular on British TV for 10 years and has starred in Fresh Meat, Bad Education and Mother's Day, as well as presenting Travels With My Father and the Brit Awards.

He's taking over Graham Norton's show for one week.

Jack, talking about filling in for Norton, said, “I was so honoured Graham asked me to do this for him. The thought of stepping into his huge showbiz boots fills me in equal measure with fear and excitement. Worst case, I will make everyone appreciate just how lucky we are to have him."

The Graham Norton Show airs on BBC One, Friday nights at 10.35pm
