Why is EastEnders not on BBC1 TV tonight?

If you're wondering where your Friday night EastEnders fix is, then you had it last night with a double whammy of two episodes in one evening.

On Thursday night the BBC soap was aired at both 7.30pm and 8.30pm to make way for the Women's World Cup coverage tonight.

BBC One is airing live coverage of the France vs South Korea game, with Match of the Day coverage starting at 7.30pm right through until 10pm. So expect no drama from Albert Square, but instead from the pitch in France.

As an extra bonus to two tense episodes of the soap in one night, EastEnders fans were also treated to yesterday's unveiling of the summer trailer after a grueling wait.

The trailer described as 'hot' by the show takes us through a summer of the soap, powered by a questionable number of dramatic backing tracks.

The trailer reveals storylines including Keanu Taylor being knidnapped, Stuart Highway preparing to kill his own dad, Callum Highway fighting his sexuality and Ian Beale making a grand return to Albert Square to find everything has changed.

Fans were quick to highlight Shirley's haircut with one Twitter user saying: "Ahhh bad girl Shirl is back with the iconic hair cut" while another posted: "Had to watch it 3 times because all I grabbed was Shirley’s haircut."

Other EastEnders lovers raised their appreciation for the soap with Twitter users regarding the new trailer as 'amazing.'

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
