Why is Coronation Street not on tonight and when will it return?

Coronation Street is in the midst of one of its biggest storylines yet but tonight's episode will not air.

The trial for Seb's murder got underway on the long-running ITV soap last week.

Nina Lucas took the stand last Wednesday to give an account of what happened on the night of the killing.

Nina has finally been able to recount who killed Seb - which was revealed through a series of surreal flashback sequences earlier this week.

Both Corey and Kelly are blaming each other for the killing and are providing different accounts of the incident.

This week, Kelly has been cross-examined as to her part to play in the murder, leaving fans gripped.

But there was uproar as it was revealed tonight's usual Wednesday episode will not go ahead.

Instead, ITV will air the Poland v England match from 7.15pm, pushing Emmerdale back to 6.45pm.

The Lions travel to Warsaw's PGE Narodawy Stadium to take on the Polish national team.

This caused some disgruntled Corrie viewers to take to Twitter.

Pat commented: "WHAT!!! Not again, I bet it's because of flippin football, all them sports channels and they have to remove Corrie."

Christopher said: "Boo! No #Corrie tonight because of football."

And a third added: "I’ve just had to break it to my boyfriend that there is no Corrie tonight. As an avid football fan, he’s slightly disappointed this has clashed with our #corrie watching. I’m training him well."

Corrie fans will have to wait until Friday in a special one-hour episode to find out what happens next.
