Beyoncé is seemingly struggling to sell tickets for the London leg of her Cowboy Carter tour – so much so that she’s giving them away for free.
At the time of writing, hundreds of tickets are still available for the remaining London dates of the tour, and only the VIP hospitality packages are marked as ‘low availability’.
So how did the popstar go from adding extra dates to her 2023 tour due to high demand, to this?
Why is Beyoncé struggling to sell tickets for her tour?
There are a few potential reasons for why Beyoncé is struggling to shift tickets in the same way she did for the Renaissance World Tour in 2023.
The first reason for this is the price, with some tickets costing as much as £278. With people across the capital, the UK, and Europe in general feeling the impact of the cost of living as inflation continues to rise, such high ticket prices just aren’t affordable for many.
Fans have also been less effusive in praise for the country-inspired Cowboy Carter album, which differs significantly from the songs on Renaissance and arguably her previous works.
Another factor could be her her husband, Jay Z’s association with disgraced music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs.
The accused musician still undergoing trial for a number of criminal and civil lawsuits, with accusations stating that he "abused, threatened and coerced women" and ran a "criminal enterprise" that involved kidnapping, arson and bribery.
Jay-Z was listed in a civil sexual assault lawsuit against Diddy filed on behalf of an anonymous woman.
The claims suggest that the music mogul and Diddy took turns assaulting the Jane Doe at an MTV Awards after-party in 2000, which Jay-Z and Combs both deny.
The public nature of the accusations could well have impacted public perception of Beyoncé, despite the suit being officially thrown out.
Now, Beyoncé is giving out free tickets, seemingly to fill seats, giving them away to families who rely on soup kitchens and community food banks.
