Interstellar director Christopher Nolan may have taken audiences to the outer reaches of space and used cutting-edge technology to fly through a black hole – but he wouldn’t be able to take a selfie even if he wanted to.
The British film-maker confessed to not owning the basic personal technology of a smartphone – or even an email account – in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, saying he “couldn’t be bothered” with either.
The 44-year-old director of Inception and the Dark Knight trilogy says not being at the beck and call of a pocket device “gives me time to think. You know, when you have a smartphone and 10 minutes to spare, you go on it, and you start looking at stuff”.
Indeed you do Christopher. And if Monkey had three hours spare, he might watch one of your films. But he’d need his smartphone afterwards to Google what on earth just happened.
