Why hundreds of Santas will be riding motorbikes through Bristol this weekend

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the annual chance to glimpse hundreds of Santas whizzing in and around Bristol and through the city centre on motorbikes.

The festive spectacle is hosted by bosses at Bristol's Children's Hospital which has helped thousands of the city's terminally ill kids.

And this year, the procession won't just include Santas, there will also be elves, snowmen, reindeer and other Christmas characters appearing in the parade.

All bikes, trikes and scooters are welcome to join in - there’s no charge to attend but donations to Children’s Hospice South West are welcomed.

Now in its 15th year, the event has so far raised a whopping £16,000 for the charity.

Organiser Oli Allen has been participating in the ride since 2013.

“It’s amazing to see the spectacle of hundreds of bikers riding together - all making an incredible effort decorating themselves and their bikes to spread some Christmas happiness around the city and raising money for a great cause”, he said.

“The support we get is incredible - with families coming out year after year to wave to the bikes as they pass by”
