Why Hugo Lloris is not playing for Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

Hugo Lloris is not playing for Tottenham against Manchester City today because he is nursing a muscle injury.

Paulo Gazzaniga is starting in his place behind a back three of Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of kick-off, Mauricio Pochettino said: "Hugo has a small muscle problem. Hopefully it’s not a big issue and he can be ready for Tuesday (Brighton at home). It would be a risk for him to play today and that’s why we decided to leave him in London.

"It's a massive boost for Gazzaniga to play."

Pochettino has made a total of five changes to the team that started on Wednesday night, with Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, Ben Davies and Eric Dier also coming in.
