Why Holly Willoughby is not on This Morning today

Holly Willoughby is not on ITV's This Morning with Phillip Schofield today as she takes another break from the show.

Holly is off the air for two weeks with Richelle Hulmes filling in her slot alongside Phil.

The two-week break started on Monday as Phil and Rochelle took to the air to host the ITV morning magazine show.

As the show opened, Phillip and Rochelle sat side-by-side and interviewed a viral internet skater before explaining Holly's whereabouts, reports the Mirror.

After the initial interview, Phillip turned to the camera and said: “Rochelle is here, as you can see. Keeping Holly’s seat warm. She’s off with the Ice Man, making a show at the moment.”

“Can’t wait to hang out,” said Rochelle. “Keeping her seat warm.”

Holly Willoughby is taking a two-week break from This Morning to film a show for the BBC.

Holly is to present Wim Hof’s Superstar Survival alongside comedian Lee Mack, and will fly back to the UK at the weekends to film Dancing On Ice alongside Phillip.

The series made by Hungry Bear Media will follow a group of soul-searching celebrities as they embark on an epic adventure of self-improvement, and face a unique test of mental strength like no other, under the guidance of ‘extreme athlete’ and well-being icon Wim Hof, aka ‘The Iceman’.

The celebrities taking part will be tackling wild and death-defying challenges in Europe’s harshest conditions, for a journey of self-discovery in a bid to defeat their demons, from anxiety and insomnia to ongoing health conditions.

Holly said: "I can’t wait to team up with Lee and Wim on this show. Lee is a favourite in our house because he’s so hilariously funny and I’ve been a fan of Wim for a long time – he’s a genius who’s incredibly passionate about helping others. This show is going to be brilliantly entertaining and you never know…you may find out some things that could help you along the way too.”

A source told The Sun: "Holly loved I’m a Celeb so much it gave her the confidence to strike out on her own and do more mainstream solo TV projects. Holly did an excellent job filling in for Ant and was one of the highlights of the show that year.

"She has high career ambitions and is starting the year as she means to go on."

The insider added: "However, she absolutely loves This Morning and her on-screen partnership with Phillip, so isn’t going anywhere long-term. She’s just grateful ITV bosses are giving her the freedom to do her own projects."

There have been rumours Holly might depart her role on This Morning for some time - but she has denied the claims.

"I never think like that. I feel very lucky to be on that show. The show changes so much, I think that’s the beauty of This Morning," she said, "Recently it’s had the highest ratings it’s had in 15 years. It’s doing really, really well which is extraordinary for a show that’s been around for as long as it has. And I think because it changes and it evolves and it adapts."

She added: "But I think that show has something to teach us a little bit; as long as we keep evolving and changing and moving on and happy to flow with things."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
