Why Harry Maguire 'will choose Man City' over Manchester United - and more transfer rumours

Harry Maguire has reportedly decided to join Manchester City over Manchester United this summer due to the offer on the table from the Premier League champions.

The Mirror say Maguire has told friends he wants to join City, with the club prepared to pay a world-record fee of £80m for his services.

The report says City will also hand Maguire a five year contract worth £280,000-per-week - prompting the England defender to view the offer as 'too good to turn down.'

If Maguire was to choose City it would see them beat Manchester United to his signature, even though they are refusing to give up on signing the 26-year-old.

The report adds that Pep Guardiola sees Maguire as the perfect replacement for Vincent Kompany, while the appeal of Champions League football is a driving force behind the Leicester man's desire to pick City over United.

Meanwhile, City have apparently enquired about £30m-rated Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi.

Bild say City are attracted by 22-year-old Elvedi’s qualities - including a 95 per cent pass rate from the back, which was more than any other player with 20+ appearances in the division.

Finally, The Sun say Leroy Sane has told confidants he will remain at City, despite reports saying Bayern Munich are prepared to pay up to £90m for him.

Sane apparently favours playing in England rather than the scrutiny that would come with playing in his native Germany.

The report also says Sane is searching for a new agent - which could have a knock on effect in City’s contract negotiations with the player.
