Gogglebox is one of the highlights of our weekends. Every Friday night we know we can settle in for some light-hearted entertainment with some great personalities taking the mickey out of the week's telly.
Except we can't this week, as Gogglebox is absent from the TV schedules for the simple reason that its latest series has finished.
In its stead on Channel 4 at 9pm is Friday Night Dinner: 10 Years and a Lovely Bit of Squirrel, the retrospective documentary taking a look back at six seasons of the sitcom Friday Night Dinner. The one-off special will be dedicated to Paul Ritter, who played Martin in the show and sadly died last month.
Fear not, however: Gogglebox returns very soon. As Bristol Live previously reported, the regular show is pencilled in for an 18th series in September. Much sooner than that, Celebrity Gogglebox's third series begins as soon as next week.
Returning stars for the celeb spin-off include the presenter Denise Van Outen and partner Eddie, comedians Mo Gilligan and Babatunde Aléshé, musicians Shaun Ryder and Bez, actor Martin Kemp and his son, the radio DJ Roman, fellow DJ Nick Grimshaw and his niece Liv, and the broadcaster Gyles Brandreth & actress Maureen Lipman.
The comedian Iain Stirling and presenter Laura Whitmore also return, as do actresses Sunetra Sarker and Georgia Taylor, former professional boxer Chris Eubank and his son and fellow boxer Chris Eubank Jr, and broadcasting couple Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.
New cast members include the presenter Lorraine Kelly and Rosie Smith, Radio 1’s Clara Amfo and her brother Andy, broadcaster Clare Balding and her wife Alice Arnold, singer-songwriter Mel C and her brother Paul, and the former footballers Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher.
Channel 4 says more names will be announced "in due course".
Celebrity Gogglebox begins on Friday June 4 at 9pm on Channel 4.
