Why Giants’ Tommy DeVito Can’t Wait to Face Hostile Eagles Fans on Christmas Day

Tommy DeVito has never been afraid of playing in front of thousands of fans in a raucous environment.

When the Giants (5-9) undrafted rookie quarterback takes the field for his sixth NFL start against the Eagles (10-4) on Christmas, DeVito says he will be unfazed by the Eagles fans filing into Lincoln Financial Field. In fact, DeVito told reporters on Wednesday that he thrives in unfriendly environments like one he will enter in the City of Brotherly Love.

“I like a hostile crowd,” DeVito said, per NJ.com.

DeVito will seek to lead the Giants to their sixth win of the season after disappointing 24-6 loss to the Saints in Week 15. The Eagles return to their friendly confines in need of a win after losing three consecutive games that includes Sunday’s 20-17 loss to the Seahawks.

It doesn’t get much better than a fierce NFC East clash on Christmas. Although the Eagles and their fans will enter Monday’s game motivated more than ever to create a boisterous atmosphere for DeVito, the rookie plans to maintain his composure.

When asked what he will say to Philadelphia fans if they utter Merry Christmas, DeVito’s response was simple.

“I’ll say merry Christmas right back—and that’s that,” DeVito said.

The Eagles will play host to the Giants at 4:30 p.m. ET on Monday.
