The New York Giants have selected Georgia cornerback Deandre Baker with the 30th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Baker is not a great athlete at all for a cornerback but he has almost everything else you want in a corner. He is lengthy, physical, competitive, and makes great plays on the ball. His ball skills and ability to lock down one side of the field should really help the Giants in 2019.
For the Giants, taking the chance on Baker could turn out to be quite beneficial. He is a great talent and a competitive player who will find success in the NFL. He can bring the right attitude and confidence that the Giants’ defense really needs.
He could improve in some areas going forward but overall this is a good pick by the Giants to grab a talented cornerback in the late first round.
