Why Gabriel Jesus is missing from Man City squad vs Wolves in Premier League

Manchester City have confirmed striker Gabriel Jesus missed tonight's fixture against Wolves due to illness.

The Brazilian forward has started each of City's last five league games in the absence of Sergio Aguero but will play no part against Nuno Espirito Santos' men.

Earlier this week, manager Pep Guardiola stated the Argentine wasn't fit to start at Molineux but Jesus' absence has left him with no choice.

The Catalan confirmed that Jesus' illness was confirmed to himself yesterday.

He told ManCity.com: "Gabriel Jesus is sick.

"I don’t know [whether he would have started ahead of Sergio Aguero]. I didn’t have this choice.

"Yesterday, I knew Gabriel could not play."

Both John Stones and David Silva are continuing their recovery from injury and also missed out on a place in the squad.
