Why former Liverpool captain believes Reds will beat Man City to title this season

Former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp has backed his old team to claim the Premier League title this season.

Jurgen Klopp's side were piped to the title by Manchester City last season, in one of the most intense and thrilling title races seen in the competition.

But Redknapp, now a Sky Sports pundit, is backing the club to claim more silverware this season.

And he reckons the Reds can edge out Pep Guardiola's side in what is expected to be another tight Premier League campaign.

“After missing out on the Premier League title by a single point to Manchester City, he re-motivated his players and made sure they did not miss out on being crowned champions of Europe,” Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail.

“That was Klopp’s first trophy with the club and I suspect more will follow this season – including the Premier League title.

“I expect this year’s race to be as tight as the last but I have a feeling that Liverpool could pip their rivals to it.”
