Why ex-Chelsea manager Antonio Conte still lives in Cobham despite departure last summer

Antonio Conte has opened up on life following his departure from Chelsea.

Nine months ago the Italian tactician's tenure at Stamford Bridge came to an end after he was sacked despite winning the Premier League as well as the FA Cup in his two years at the helm.

In his place is Maurizio Sarri and the ex-Napoli boss has the Blues firmly in the race for a top four finish and has guided them through to the semi-final of the Europa League where they'll face Frankfurt over two legs next month.

Reflecting on his time at Chelsea, Conte is proud of what he was able to achieve in two years.

So much so that he's been spotted attending plenty of games in the capital this season, prompting suggestions that his return to management could be with a Premier League club.

However, Conte has revealed the reason why he and his family are still leaving near the Blues' training ground.

"I am still living in London, as we wanted to give our little girl the opportunity to learn English," he told Sky Sport Italia. "We live in Cobham, in the countryside near Chelsea’s training ground, so there isn’t much to do. I spend a lot of my time on the couch watching matches and TV shows.

"Chelsea represented a very important experience for my career, as a coach needs to have an experience abroad, dealing with other cultures and languages.

"I am satisfied, we won a Premier League title and played in two FA Cup finals in two years."

It's possible that Conte's sabbatical ends in the summer.

When he left Chelsea last July it's understood there was a clause which meant he was not allowed to move to another English club until after this season, although he's also been linked with a return to former club Juventus.
