It’s back. Nobody Wants This, the Netflix series that quietly became a favourite for fans of clever, character-driven comedy, returns for a second season on October 23.
Season 1 stood out for its sharp dialogue, relatable characters, and the mix of humour and heart that made viewers genuinely care about the budding relationship between influencer Joanne (Kristen Bell) and rabbi Noah (Adam Brody).
Creator Erin Foster told Good Morning America the second season picks up “exactly where we left everyone, but it’s bigger, bolder, and yes, even messier. People loved the first season because they saw themselves in Joanne and Noah. This time, we’re doubling down on that.”
New faces and unexpected twists
The new trailer hints at bigger stakes and fresh chaos. Leighton Meester joins as Abby, Joanne’s high school rival turned Instagram influencer – a casting move that has fans curious given her real-life marriage to Brody.
Seth Rogen also appears in a guest role, adding both mischief and heart to the season’s storylines, as Joanne and Noah attempt to make their interfaith relationship work despite their different backgrounds.

Noah’s attempts at romantic gestures go predictably wrong, Joanne navigates professional and personal challenges, and new characters threaten the couple’s dynamic.
One trailer clip has Joanne muttering, “I feel like life’s a Pinterest board, and I’m using the wrong glue,” a line that perfectly captures the show’s mix of exasperation and humour.
Fan buzz and social media frenzy

Fans are already dissecting every frame on Instagram and Twitter, debating plot twists and Abby’s intentions. “It’s like they built a show for people who love rom-coms but hate rom-com clichés,” one fan told Good Morning America, “but somehow it’s also sad, funny, and infuriating all at once.”
Season 2 promises not just laughs but a closer look at relationships, the compromises of modern life, and the small victories that make it all worthwhile.
Premiere and release
The official premiere at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre last week confirmed the hype. The cast arrived in casual glamour, and Bell told People, “I love that people relate to Joanne’s chaos. It’s real, and yet it’s fun. That’s the balance we’re keeping.”

Brody added, “I think Noah’s heart is bigger this season, which means his mistakes are bigger too. It’s messy and hilarious, and I hope people enjoy the ride.”
All 10 episodes of Nobody Wants This season 2 drop on Netflix on October 23, giving viewers the chance to binge the entire season immediately.
