Why Eric Bailly and Ander Herrera are playing for Manchester United vs Chelsea

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained his reasoning behind the Manchester United team selection for their fixture against Chelsea in the Premier League.

United have made five changes as they host Chelsea at Old Trafford in a pivotal match in their quest for Champions League qualification.

Eric Bailly and Ander Herrera are among the changes for the match, and Solskjaer says that their inclusion is down to the energy they will bring to the team - as well as knocks to players against City.

“I think they (Bailly and Herrera) have trained really well," Solskjaer told MUTV.

"We have had to wait for them, obviously, they have had some bad injuries. With the knocks we got on Wednesday night, we had to make the changes.

"They probably would have played anyway. With Ander’s energy and enthusiasm, of course we have missed.”

The changes mean that United have resorted to a similar side as the one which knocked Chelsea out of the FA Cup earlier in the year, and Solskjaer is confident of a good result.

He added: "If we can get that performance, with our supporters behind our backs, because that was a great tactical performance by the boys, they worked hard for each other, stuck together away from home, which is always difficult, so if we can get that with our supporters behind us then I am sure we can get a good result."
