Four England players missed training on Wednesday as Thomas Tuchel’s side prepare for their quarter-final against Norway.
The Three Lions meet the Norwegians on Saturday in Miami as they bid to reach the semi-finals.
England players trained at their Kansas City base camp in the Swope Soccer Village training facility on Wednesday, with 22 of the 26 members of Tuchel’s squad involved.
Jordan Henderson was back at the England team hotel, the Inn and Meadowbrook, after surgery on his arm following a freak injury he suffered during celebrations after the 3-2 win over Mexico at Estadio Azteca.
Henderson is not expected to have any further involvement at the World Cup, but is set to stay with the group for the remainder of the tournament.
“Surgery done! Let’s get ready for the big one Saturday,” Henderson wrote on Instagram on Wednesday, alongside a picture of himself giving the thumbs-up from his hospital bed.
“Thank you to all the staff that looked after me at Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute. Especially the three surgeons who carried out the operation: Dr Kenneth P Unruh, Dr Mark J Winston and Dr Kirk McCullough.”
Reece James, Marc Guehi and vice captain Declan Rice also missed training on Wednesday.
The trio followed individualised programmes instead of taking part in the main session.
James is hoping to return for the quarter-final after missing England’s matches against Panama, the DR Congo and Mexico with a hamstring injury.
There is not believed to be immediate concern over Rice or Guehi, and it is too early to determine whether they are to be considered doubts for the meeting with Norway in Miami.
