Why emergency services were in Bristol city centre this afternoon

Emergency services were called to Bristol city centre this afternoon (November 25).

A police van, police car and ambulance were picture in Lower Castle Street.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has confirmed officers were called to reports of a concern for welfare.

Police remain at the scene after being called to the road shortly after 1.30pm.

The ambulance service added a crew attended the incident involving one patient at around the same time.

A spokesperson said: "South Western Ambulance Service was called at around 1.40pm about an incident involving one patient on Lower Castle Street, Bristol.

"We sent an ambulance crew and a senior paramedic to attend the incident."
