Why emergency services were called to Redland

Police officers rushed to Redland last night (May 1) to respond to a "domestic incident".

Emergency service vehicles were spotted in Waverley Avenue on shortly before 8pm.

At least one police car and a riot van were seen by a reporter at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary confirmed today (May 2) that police were called to a "domestic incident" but could not provide any further information.

In other news, an assault in Henbury earlier this week left a man with a head injury.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Battersby Way, near Henbury Leisure Centre , just after 7.50pm on April 30.

A man in his 50s was found in the street with a head injury and went to hospital for treatment to injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

An investigation is ongoing but no arrests have been made.
