Why Elias Kachunga has no point to prove ahead of Sheffield Wednesday trip with Bolton Wanderers

Elias Kachunga has no point to prove to Bolton Wanderers or his manager ahead of the trip to his old club Sheffield Wednesday, Ian Evatt insists.

Kachunga joined Wanderers over the summer and put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The 29-year-old spent last season at Hillsborough and played a total of 29 games in all competitions for the Owls last season.

But was unable to prevent the Sheffield club from being relegated from the Championship on the final day of last season, with the Hillsborough club experiencing a deduction of 12 points, which was later reduced to six, for breaching the EFL's Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

Kachunga returns to his former club tomorrow with Wanderers, having played 15 times for his new employers in all competitions so far this season.

Though his time at Hillsborough was perhaps not the most successful of Kachunga's career and the player may feel he has a point to prove to his former employers, Evatt insists that the attacker has nothing to prove to him or Wanderers.

But he knows Kachunga will want to be on the winning side at Hillsborough.

Evatt said: “He is maybe going back with a different point to prove and that can happen, of course. Players can go to clubs and not have a good time, enjoy the experience.

“They might feel they go back and have a point to prove – but he certainly doesn’t to me, or any of us, we know what he can do.

“But I am sure Kacha will want to go back and do the best he can to get three points."
