Why don't Primark sell online?

Primark fans have taken to social media to plead with the brand to launch an online website after the closure of all the brand's shops following the second lockdown - so why don't Primark sell online?

Queues of people headed to their nearest Primark store ahead of the second lockdown which came into place on Thursday, November 5 and is currently due to end on Wednesday, December 2.

This means that from that date Primark stores will be able to reopen - along with other non-essential businesses - but until then fans of the brand will have to wait. So why don't Primark sell online?

Back in 2014, John Bason, finance chief at parent company Associated British Foods, explained to the Mirror why the brand didn't want to sell its products online.

He said: "Look at a £2 T-shirt. Everyone think it's clickety-click but one third of clothes get returned.

"That means someone has to pick it up, someone has to deliver it, someone in the store has to take it back, refold it. It doesn't work at the lower price point."

This hasn't stopped shoppers from pining over Primark products on the brand's Instagram. Recently they have been releasing a whole host of comfy co-ords which have been captivating shoppers and selling out.

And you can buy still purchase Primark products online from other stores and sellers - find out how here.
