Why did QB Tom Brady turn down offer from Chicago Bears?

As Mitchell Trubisky prepares to take the field against the Detroit Lions in Week 1, it’s hard not to think about how there could’ve been a future Hall of Famer in his place had the stars aligned.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Bears were interested in Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady this offseason.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirmed Chicago’s interest in Brady, saying the Bears put an offer in for Brady’s services. But Brady ultimately turned down the Bears because he didn’t want to play in the cold weather.

The Bears explored all avenues this offseason at quarterback, eventually trading for former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles. Foles eventually lost out in the quarterback battle with Trubisky, and he’ll be the back-up as the Bears take the field Sunday.

Should Trubisky’s struggles rear its ugly head again this season, the Bears will feel good in turning to Foles in relief. Still, it’s hard to think about what could’ve been with Brady in navy and orange.
