Why did Kaleb Cooper leave Clarkson's Farm?

Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon Prime documentary series saw the English television presenter and journalist’s pivot from cars to farming as he built Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton.

The 65-year old was joined by farmhand Kaleb Cooper in one of Amazon’s most watched series, and together the duo made comedy gold in an effort to promote British farming and its many, many challenges.

If “Tramline, Tramline, Tramline!” means anything to you, it is likely that you watched the pair’s adventures on Diddly Squat farm, birthing calves, raising goats, and growing mushrooms in an underground bunker.

Now, fans have noticed Cooper is noticeably absent from the forthcoming series, with Clarkson hiring a new replacement, Harriet Cowan.

But Cooper’s departure is leaving fans asking why? Here’s what we know:

The Season Four trailer sees Clarkson telling the camera: “I want to make it plain that I am absolutely thrilled to bits for Kaleb, but he has left me just a little in the lurch.”

According to the trailer, Cooper is taking a break to embark on a nationwide farming tour.

On his tour, Cooper engages in talks, greets fans, takes photos, and shares his experience of farming.

Since joining Diddy Squat farm, Cooper has released three books: The World according to Kaleb (2022), Britain According to Kaleb: The Wonderful World of Country Life (2023), and Life According to Kaleb (2024).

He has always been a farmer and lives in Chipping Norton with his partner Taya and their two children Oscar and Willa Grace. The couple announced they are expecting a third baby, due in August.

Will Kaleb Cooper be back?

In spite of Clarkson hiring a replacement for Cooper, Harriet Cowan, the trailer shows clips of Cooper making guest appearances in a tractor alongside Clarkson and again, with an angry bull in a pen.

Cooper will not be gone forever and is expected to return back to Clarkson’s farm post-tour to help the former Top Gear star launch his new pub venture.

When will Series Four launch?

Series Four of Clarkson’s farm will have a staggered release over three weeks. The first four episodes will drop on Amazon Prime on May 23, followed by two more on May 30, and the final two on June 6.

Jeremy Clarkson has recently revealed he was “days away from death” following a health scare and is now recovering following the fitting of two stents to unblock vital arteries.
