Why David Turnbull is worth Celtic taking a £3million punt on him - latest podcast

It's set to be one of the most important transfer window in Celtic's recent history.

The treble Treble-winning squad is reaching somewhat of a crossroads, with some players coming to the end of their time at the club and others attracting interest from elsewhere.

It means fresh investment will likely be required and Motherwell's rising star David Turnbull has crossed Neil Lennon's radar.

The Steelmen are likely to demand at least £3million for the midfielder after a stellar season at Fir Park.

Celtic were dealt a blow last summer when attempts to haggle a fee for John McGinn eventually resulted in the midfielder joining Aston Villa.

Liam Bryce was joined by Tony Haggerty and Kevin McAllion to discuss a potential move for Turnbull and analyse Celtic's transfer priorities.

Kevin reckons the Premiership champions should make a swift move for Turnbull before he's snapped up by the English football money machine and disappears from Celtic's financial grasp for the prime years of his career.

He said: "For me, Celtic' s policy has to be to find the best domestic talent, sign them and then move them on for bigger fees to England.

"Once they go there, they are instantly out of Celtic's price range. If clubs want to buy John McGinn now you're probably looking at about £25m.

"The same thing happened with James McCarthy, the same thing happened with Steven Fletcher.

"Celtic, as much as they think they can low-ball teams in the Premiership, it's a short sighted policy.

"If someone chooses to move down south, they're gone, at least until the very latter stages of their career."
