Patrice Evra has described how Daniel James' debut goal for Manchester United against Chelsea gave him 'goosebumps' and convinced him the club is on the right track.
James scored within seven minutes of coming on as a substitute on his debut against Chelsea on the opening day, and has followed that up with brilliant strikes against Crystal Palace and Southampton to win the club's Player of the Month award.
And club hero Evra, who is around the training ground to gain experience for his coaching badges, says the passion James has shown in his first appearances for United bodes well for the future.
Predicting a successful career for the fellow left-sided player, Evra said he also voted for James himself after being impressed by his attitude as a new United player.
United released a video of Evra presenting the Player of the Month award to James, as he delivered an impassioned speech about the importance of playing for the badge.
“Daniel James, you’ve been voted by the fans and myself as player of the month,” Evra said. “I think you deserve it and to be honest I’m really really happy to give you that trophy because the passion, the love... I can see it.
“It’s the best days in your life when you’re playing for this club and we need those players. I remember your celebration you gave my goosebumps! I was watching you on TV and it was not about your goal, but more about your celebration because it was like ‘the club is on the right way’ because we need players like you.
“Your age doesn’t matter; if you’re young or old, you need to show that passion and that love for this shirt because this badge has a big history. I think you understand everything and I’m convinced 100 per cent that you’re going to have an amazing career because you have the right attitude and that’s important."
