Why Colts fans should be excited about Rock Ya-Sin

The Indianapolis Colts selected Temple cornerback Rock Ya-Sin with the 34th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Ya-Sin, in addition to having arguably the coolest name in this year’s draft class, broke out in 2018 in his lone season with the Owls. He is a physical and lengthy cornerback who is unafraid of contact or boxing out on jump balls. He is good at jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage in press-man coverage. Though his technique still needs some work, his physical tools and his physicality make him a likely starter at the next level.

The Colts surpassed expectations in 2018, and they added a young, physical cornerback who can compete with the likes of DeAndre Hopkins and Corey Davis in divisional play. On a defense that could still use some young cornerstones, Ya-Sin projects as a player who has one of the highest ceilings on the unit.
