Why Colts fans should be excited about Ben Banogu

With the 49th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected TCU edge rusher Ben Banogu.

Banogu is a raw prospect, but he has physical tools that few pass rushers in this year’s class can match. He set the broad jump record for defensive linemen at the Combine with 134 inches, and he ran a 4.62 40-yard dash and had a 40-inch vertical jump at six-foot-three and 150 pounds.

His athleticism is apparent on tape, as he fires off the ball quickly and moves pretty well in space. Banogu’s hand usage needs some work, but that can be fixed with some work with NFL coaches.

After selecting Rock Ya-Sin with their first second-round pick, the Colts added another defensive piece in the second round in Banogu. He has the potential to be a reliable pass rusher in their system.
