Why Chiefs fans should be excited about Juan Thornhill

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Virginia defensive back Juan Thornhill with the 63rd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Thornhill is a versatile and athletic defensive back who can play both safety and cornerback. The six-foot, 205-pounder ran a 4.42 40-yard dash and put up an insane 44-inch vertical and 141-inch broad jump. He has great ball skills, showing the ability to track down passes like a centerfield-type safety. Instinctive and intelligent, he can jump routes and close in on ball carriers pretty well.

He needs work as a tackler, but his athletic upside makes him a steal this late in the second round.

The Chiefs desperately needed some secondary help, and they find it in Thornhill. He is a high-ceiling player who can make big plays in the defensive backfield.
