Ethan Ampadu could miss RB Leipzig's return to Bundesliga action tomorrow afternoon because of a niggling back injury that has been troubling the 19-year-old since February.
The Wales international, on loan to Julian Nagelsmann's side for the campaign, has been rated as a significant doubt for the meeting against Freiburg despite not being mentioned in the head coach's pre-match press conference.
The Bundesliga's official website has listed Ampadu as a confirmed absentee ahead of the 2.30pm kick off.
The teenager has been troubled by back problems for more than three months with suggestions that he is suffering from growing pains.
Ampadu has featured only three times in the Bundesliga for the side that knocked Tottenham Hotspur out of the Champions League in the round of 16, although he has made a pair of starts in the Champions League.
He has already spoken of his disappointment at a lack of game time but said in a recent interview with The Athletic that he believes his time in Germany has still been worthwhile.
“There’s been a lot of frustration at times; however, I’ve learned a lot through those frustrations which will only help me later in my career," he said.
"I’ve not played as many games as I’d have liked to but in the games I’ve played in, I think I’ve done reasonably well. That’ll give me confidence, but I’ve things to learn from."
Chelsea transfer target Timo Werner is nailed on to start up front for Leipzig, while Jadon Sancho will be in Borussia Dortmund's starting XI for their derby against Schalke at the Westfalenstadion.
