Why Chelsea fans should not be getting excited about Eden Hazard’s Real Madrid comments

Chelsea cruised to a 2-0 win over West Ham United on Monday Night Football as Eden Hazard bagged a brace but the big talking point post-match surrounded the playmaker’s future.

Maurizio Sarri has admitted that keeping Hazard will be difficult and even explained that the forward’s decision over his future must be respected.

The Belgium international continues to be linked with a move away from Chelsea, with Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane known to be a big admirer of the 28-year-old.

But Hazard spoke post-match about chants that he was leaving for Real this summer. Instead of remaining coy on the situation, Hazard insisted the chants during the West Ham game were wrong.

Asked about the chants about him leaving for Madrid, Hazard laughed and then told Sky Sports: “They are wrong. Now I am just focused with Chelsea until the end of the season. I just want to finish in the top four and in the Europa League we still have a lot to do. We will see.”

However, this is far from good news for Chelsea fans with his only further elaboration on how he is solely focused on this season.

Hazard’s future is clearly still not sorted and whilst these comments may sound promising, the reality is that the Chelsea star will make a decision in the coming weeks and months. If Sarri’s comments are anything to go by, Chelsea supporters shouldn’t be holding out hope.
