Why Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri should be 'embarrassed' by what Gareth Southgate has done

Former Chelsea star Chris Sutton believes Maurizio Sarri should be "embarrassed" by Callum Hudson-Odoi's England performance.

The teenager was handed his senior England debut by Gareth Southgate during the international break, before he had made s single Premier League start for the Blues.

Hudson-Odoi came off the bench during England's 5-0 hammering of the Czech Republic on Friday night, before then being handed his first start for the senior side in the 5-1 demolition of Montenegro on Tuesday night.

And he turned in two excellent performances to boot, showing everyone the class and quality he has.

Chelsea star's agent 'holds talks' with Liverpool over summer transfer

Chelsea turned down a number of approaches from German giants Bayern Munich in the summer, with the Bundesliga outfit preparing to return for the 18-year-old this summer.

Blues boss Sarri has so far refused to bow down to fan pressure to play the youngster on a more regular basis, instead preferring to go with the more experienced Pedro and Willian in his front three.

Hudson-Odoi is desperate for more game-time and handed in a transfer request at Stamford Bridge last summer in an attempt to secure a move away from the club.

What happens next is anyone's guess, with Sarri's job under pressure and the potential of a new manager coming into the club at the end of the season if the Blues do not qualify for the Champions League.

Sutton who spent one season with the Blues from 1999-2000, believes it is an embarrassing situation for the club.

What Danny Drinkwater has done after being frozen out by Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea this season

Speaking to the Daily Mail , he said: "Chelsea may have turned down Bayern Munich's offer in January but I don't think we've heard the last of that.

"Hudson-Odoi just wants to play. It is embarrassing for Chelsea that he can put on that kind of performance on the international stage without having started a game for his club."
