Why Charlie Patino will not play for Arsenal vs Leeds United amid fan demands to Mikel Arteta

Some Arsenal supporters were desperate to see Charlie Patino involved in the first team this evening, but the youngster has been ruled out with a minor ankle injury.

The Gunners welcome Leeds United to the Emirates Stadium tonight as they look to carry on their cup run, but football.london understands that Patino will be absent for the clash.

Arteta wants to keep Arsenal's momentum going this evening following Friday's victory against Aston Villa and is unlikely to call upon many youngsters, despite doing so in the past in the Carabao Cup.

Patino is one of the highest-rated young players in the Hale End academy, but another starlet is now set to be involved instead following his ankle problem he picked up in training.

Salah-Eddine Oulad M'Hand has received a late call-up from Arteta, with Patino now missing.

Arsenal supporters had been calling for Patino to be involved throughout the day, but they will now be disappointed with the latest news.

Arsenal beat Aston Villa 3-1 on Friday evening, in what was a superb performance from the hosts in north London and Arteta will be desperate for a similar display from his team later on against a different proposition in Leeds.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon, Arteta was asked if Friday was his team's most "complete performance" of the season so far, and replied: "It probably is.

"The way we started, the way we played, the confidence that we showed, the rhythm, and the efficiency as well in every action, how we attacked the opponents' half as well and the goals we scored. It probably was, yes."

If Arsenal can pick up the victory this evening, then the Gunners will be eight games unbeaten in all competitions as Arteta looks to continue his team's resurgence after a poor start to the campaign.
