Why Chargers fans should be excited about Nasir Adderley

The Los Angeles Chargers selected Delaware safety Nasir Adderley with the 60th overall pick.

Adderley is a rangy, centerfielder-type free safety who has great lateral agility and can track down passes very well in single-high and two-high coverages. The six-foot, 206-pounder didn’t play top-tier competition in the FCS, but he was able to read quarterbacks and show the acceleration to jump routes and make plays on the ball.

He needs more polish as a tackler, but his abilities in coverage could turn him into a very good starter in the NFL.

With Derwin James as their strong safety, the Chargers now have a great complement at free safety in Adderley. They could form a dangerous safety duo on a stacked defense for years to come.
