The Los Angeles Chargers have selected Notre Dame Defensive Tackle Jerry Tillery with the 28th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Excellent value in the late first round for the Chargers. Tillery is an elite talent in this class and has the upside to be a top tier defensive tackle in the league. He is strong, lengthy, and flashes great technique on film. He had moments of straight dominance last year at Notre Dame. Chargers just added what could turn out to be the steal of the draft.
For the Chargers, taking the chance on Tillery could turn out to be quite beneficial. The Chargers needed a guy to fill the void left by Darius Philon up front and Tillery is a sure fire upgrade here. His ability to push the pocket and create disruption should be an excellent boost to the team.
Tillery, Joey Bosa, and Melvin Ingram all on the same line is a scary trio.
