Celtic's Europa League fixture details were confirmed last night, although, unusually, their first game in the competition this season will take place on a Wednesday.
Traditionally, Europa League matches are played on Thursdays. However, there are some cases when that is not the case.
Celtic, for example, faced Ferencvaros at Parkhead on a Tuesday afternoon in 2021 because both they and Rangers were due to play in Glasgow on the evening of Thursday, October 21. Police Scotland didn't allow it and changed the date of the Bhoys' game.

This time around, Celtic's Europa League match away to Red Star in Belgrade isn't taking place on a Thursday due to what UEFA describe as 'exclusive weeks'.
Indeed, all three league phases of their main club competitions - the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League - commence on different weeks, with, in the case of the Europa League, fixtures spread across two days, with the addition of Wednesday.
The midweek of September 24/25 is exclusive to the 2025/26 Europa League league phase, hence Celtic starting their campaign on the Wednesday.
