Why Burnley fans want Man City to win the Premier League over Liverpool FC

Manchester City face a testing trip to Burnley on Sunday with Pep Guardiola's side within three victories away from retaining the Premier League title for the first time in the club's history.

City beat Manchester United in their game in hand on Wednesday night to leapfrog Liverpool into top spot, a point clear of Jurgen Klopp's side.

The Blues have lost just one of their last 21 games against Burnley in a run that stretches back to 1974, though the Clarets will confirm their Premier League safety with a point against City.

Liverpool have not won the title since 1990, but Burnley supporters on Twitter are seemingly in favour of City lifting the trophy after the way Reds supporters reacted to Ben Mee's challenge on Joe Gomez that left the defender with a broken leg earlier this season.

The tackle, which replays showed to be within the laws of the game, was met with disdain by sections of Liverpool's support and Burnley supporters on the social media platform have not forgotten about Mee's treatment online.
