Why Bristol Temple Meads was trending on Twitter

There are plenty of things many of us miss as we enter the fourth week of lockdown - going to pub, eating at a restaurant and socialising with friends to name just a few.

However, if you were on Twitter yesterday, it would have been easy to believe that people were actually pining to visit Bristol Temple Meads instead.

Our beloved railway station was trending on the social media on Sunday (April 12), leading to many confused people to speculate why.

Jodie Rogers said: "See Bristol Temple Meads trending and get scared something bad has happened.

"People actually just tweeting about how pretty it is."

Another person added: "I don't know why Bristol Temple Meads is trending on UK Twitter but it looks nice so whatever."

A third said: "People are so bored of being home they’re fantasising about visiting Bristol Temple Meads train station."

The actual answer was that the station was featured in Great Western Railway's Easter Sunday edition of 'Guess the Station'.

A picture of the station was posted by the train operator, along with the caption: "Reply with your guesses. The answer will be revealed at 7pm."

This quickly led to a flurry of answers and soon enough Bristol Temple Meads was briefly one of the highest trends in the UK.
