Why Bolton Wanderers could yet have more transfer window incomings this summer

Bolton Wanderers have been very proactive in the transfer market this summer and have got their business done early.

Two loanees from last season in the form of Oladapo Afolayan and Declan John have been signed up to permanent deals at Wanderers after their deals at West Ham United and Swansea City came to an end.

New faces have also arrived to bring strength in depth and competition to Ian Evatt's squad ahead of the League One campaign.

Will Aimson and George Johnston have been added to the central defensive department, while Joel Dixon will compete with veteran Matt Gilks for the number one spot in goal.

Josh Sheehan was named in the League Two team of the season playing for Newport County and joins a Wanderers side which is now bursting with options in the engine room.

Amadou Bakayoko will act as competition to last season's top scorer Eoin Doyle, and Xavier Amaechi has joined the club on loan form German side Hamburg for the next six months.

Evatt has previously said that Bolton's is now complete but that Wanderers might seek to do additional business later in the window, but are dependant on outgoings from the squad first.

However, that stance may change, depending on the outcome of a certain circumstance.

Amaechi limped out of Bolton's 1-0 win over Preston North End in midweek with a suspected injury to his metatarsal.

He was later seen on crutches and wearing a protective boot and Wanderers are awaiting the results of a scan to learn the extent of the problem to his foot.

And it could force Bolton's hand for reinforcements before the end of the window if Amaechi is out for a sustained period of time.

He said: " Depending on what happens with Xav could alter the rest of our transfer plans."
