The Buffalo Bills have selected Houston defensive lineman Ed Oliver with the 9th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The word freak best describes Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver. He plays with outstanding leverage, athleticism, and strength and is almost unblockable one on one. He has a relentless motor and excels at shooting gaps in the middle of the line. He may not be perfect but his upside and athleticism are rare and he should be an outstanding NFL player.
For the Bills, taking the chance on Oliver could turn out to be quite beneficial. Oliver fits their aggressive scheme perfectly and he should provide an excellent boost to their struggling pass rush. His speed and athleticism should add a new dynamic to the to an already athletic defense. With young players like Tre’Davious White and Tremaine Edmunds added in the last few drafts, the Bills have gotten younger and faster at all three levels of the defense. Great pick and a steal for where they picked him.
