The Cincinnati Bengals selected Washington tight end Drew Sample with the 52nd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The six-foot-five, 255-pound Sample is a big tight end with an impressive frame. He is a physical player who offers a high motor and good strength and technique as a run blocker. He is a better blocker than receiver, but he is a fluid enough athlete and has good enough hands to be a solid option in the passing game, as well.
While the second round may be high for Sample, he is a well-rounded player with value on all three downs. He should replace the injury-prone Tyler Eifert as the Bengals’ lead tight end.
