'Why?!' - Arsenal fans cannot believe what Mikel Arteta has done ahead of Man City clash

Mikel Arteta has named his Arsenal side for today's big Premier League clash away to Manchester City.

The Gunners go into the game looking for their first points of the season after disappointing 2-0 defeats to both newcomers Brentford and London rivals Chelsea.

Arsenal did bounce back to form midweek as they secured a resounding 6-0 win against Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup.

That win may give Mikel Arteta - and hat-trick hero Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - confidence ahead of a daunting looking task away to the Premier League champions.

Aubameyang will lead the line for the Gunners at the Etihad Stadium, ably supported by Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and recent addition Martin Odegaard.

But it is a decision at the back that has Arsenal fans scratching their heads.

With Ben White and Gabriel both out, Rob Holding will partner Saed Kolasinac at the heart of the backline, a move that has left Gunners feeling slightly underwhelmed.

Here's how they reacted to the news on Twitter.

Alexandre Lacazette is named among the Gunners substitutes, with Arteta able to call on him if required, while Gabriel Martinelli and Albert Sambi Lokonga also drop to the bench having all started against Thomas Tuchel's side.

Arsenal: Leno, Soares, Tierney, Chambers, Holding, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Odegaard, Saka, Smith Rowe, Aubameyang

Subs: Ramsdale, Okonkwo, Lacazette, Maitland-Niles, Tavares, Mari, Sambi Lokonga, Elneny, Martinelli
