‘Why are you here?????’: Bartender asks 2 guys who ordered shots what they are celebrating. Their response stops her in her tracks

A bartender shares the shocking response of two customers celebrating a special occasion, sparking debate among viewers.

In a video with over 166,000 views, TikToker Cait (@hoopwithcait) posts a picture of herself grabbing her forehead in disbelief. Writing on-screen text, she recounts a bizarre interaction she had with two customers.

“One time when I was bartending, 2 guys came in and said, ‘Pour us some shots! We’re celebrating,’” she writes.

Cait asks the excited duo what they’re celebrating as she pours their shots.

“He said, ‘This guy’s baby was born today!’” she continues.

She says the interaction got weirder in the caption.

“Later, the new dad asked me to spray the cleaning solution into his mouth,” she recounts.

Is it a faux pas for new dads to go out drinking?

In the comments, viewers debate whether new dads should go to the bar to celebrate the birth of their child. Many argue that fathers should be with the mother of their child to support her in taking care of the newborn.

“Second day I was in the hospital my bd decided it was a good idea to go to the bar and have a couple drinks with friends and didn’t understand why I was upset,” one writes.

“That’s definitely the place he should be immediately after your baby is born,” another says sarcastically.

“MY DAD DID THE SAME THING. I just found this out at 33 years old. Like why aren’t you in the hospital with mom AND ME?!?! I couldn’t really get a straight answer out of them… maybe my mom didn’t want him there? They are still married, but that was just so bizarre to hear…,” a third shares.

“Did he drop his wife and baby off at home and head straight to the bar or what?” a fourth asks.

Some viewers were on the dad’s side

However, some viewers come to the new father’s defense, noting that he may not have been able to attend the birth.

“Giving him the benefit of doubt – many people who are military are sent away for schools, trainings, etc etc short term and he could have not had the ability to go home!” one explains.

“Depending where you are, maybe he was army and away from home?” another suggests.

“Maybe he wasn’t allowed at the hospital,” a third adds.

Cait responds, “Totally understand that, but this was 100% not the case.”

Others don’t think he did anything wrong, even if he didn’t have a good excuse to be away.

“Everyone one of me n our friends went to bar after the baby was delivered lol,” a commenter shares.

“Lol, the mom had to stay overnight so when they slept he went out. gotta celebrate the good news,” another writes.

The Mary Sue reached out to Cait for further comment.
