Why are Liverpool not on TV in the Carabao Cup tonight?

Carabao Cup holders Liverpool are not on TV in the UK today as they face Derby County.

Sky Sports have selected Chelsea’s trip to Manchester City as their one live game on Wednesday night, leaving the Reds only available on foreign channels.

Manchester United’s clash with Aston Villa was moved to tomorrow for an additional TV game but, with Liverpool facing Southampton on Saturday it was deemed that the must face Derby tonight.

A number of big Premier League clubs were left off Tuesday’s Carabao Cup schedule but, again, Jurgen Klopp’s men had to play today having beaten Tottenham on Sunday, meaning a sufficient gap had to be left between matches.

It means that tonight’s action will leave Arsenal against Brighton completely off the airwaves.

Radio commentary of the Liverpool match can be heard on TalkSPORT 2 and BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra.

The Reds are big favourites to prevail in the third-round tie having won last year’s competition, while League One side Derby laboured to an FA Cup draw at Torquay last time out.
