Why are Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield presenting Friday's This Morning?

Those tuning into Friday's instalment of This Morning might be confused to see Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

The presenting duo greeted ITV viewers today instead of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

Holly and Phil usually host Monday to Thursday on the programme while Alison and Dermot present the last day of the week after taking over from Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford in January.

But there was a big reshuffle on Friday and for a very good reason.

Holly, 40, and Phil, 59, confirmed it was their last show before the Christmas break.

Sharing her festive outfit of the day with her 7.5 million followers, Holly explained: "It's CHRIIIIIISTMAAAAAS! Final day on @thismorning until Christmas Day… open the fizz!"

And explaining what was going on during the opening credits, Holly explained: "Hello, good morning and welcome to a very festive Friday.

"Yes, don't worry you haven't woken up on the wrong day we are here on a Friday."

Phil added: "Well apart from our special celebration's day programme on Christmas Day, it's out final show of 2021 and what a year it's been."

This Morning continues weekdays at 10am on ITV.
