The Battlefield 6 open beta is picking up momentum, but not everyone can access the game just yet. As you might expect from a playtest, there are a number of issues that may prevent you from playing the game, including locked game modes in the Battlefield 6 menu.
Here’s why the game modes are locked in the Battlefield 6 open beta and how to fix it.
How to fix locked game modes in BF6

The main reason why you see locked game modes in the Battlefield 6 open beta is that you don’t have early access. From Aug. 7 to 8, only players who are a part of Battlefield Labs, pre-ordered the game, or got access via a Twitch drop can play the game.
Everyone else will be able to play the game once the open beta fully launches on Aug. 9. There are two beta tests: the first is Aug. 9 to 10, and the second is Aug. 14 to 17. Playing the game during each period grants rewards exclusive to that beta test that’ll carry over to full launch, so make sure to play both of them.
In the meantime, you can still access the firing range to test out weapons and classes, and get the feel of the gunplay before jumping into the all-out warfare.
How to fix locked game modes in BF6 if you have early access
If you have early access to the Battlefield 6 open beta from any of the sources mentioned before, and the modes are still locked, there are a few workarounds you can try:
- Restart the game
- Redeem the code again (if you got access from Twitch drops)
- Ensure the correct account is linked
There’s a known issue in the community where Battlefield 6 may require a PS Plus subscription to play the game. Unfortunately, the only solution is to restart the game and/or wait until the game lets you in. Battlefield developer did acknowledge the issue where the modes become unavailable after playing a match, though. The current fix is also to restart the game to resume matchmaking.
